Understanding Project Manager Responsibilities

Project managers are tasked to start and finish a certain project at an expected date.  It is his sole accountability if for whatever reason, the project exceeds the deadline.  Being able to understand project manager responsibilities will help ensure that a project runs smoothly.

One of the major responsibilities of a project manager is to be accessible at any time.  Some circumstances happen when you least expect it.  Accidents, supply not being delivered, employees not around etc.  Each of these situations can cause delay if not given an alternative solution right away.  

Another role of a manager is to be able to maintain confidentiality on the details of a project. There are certain information that should only be kept with the higher authorities knowledge because it may cause panic among the team members and will surely delay the progress of the project.

A good project manager should be able to communicate well with team members and everyone involved in the project.  Technical skills are a must but communication skills are also as important.  A manager should attend a formal management training wherein overviews of handling the different aspects of a project are discussed in great detail. This is needed to be able to perform his role better.
