Implementing Integrated Project Management Approach

Carrying out a plan to make a project successful can be a tough job especially if project management is not implemented well.  It needs to follow certain patterns or phases in order to make it more effective.  The most common project management phases are project initiation, planning, execution and closing a project.  The one who is tasked to see the overall progress of the project is the project manager.

The manager uses different approaches to implement the various phases of the project.  The traditional approach usually will treat the different stakeholders independently.  This is not the case with integrated project management.  The stakeholders composed of the business owners, customers, technical department and the management are interrelated.  Meaning, each decision that they make needs to coincide with each other.

In this way, all the tasks and decisions will satisfy all the stakeholders needs and wants because even before execution, all of their opinion has been collected.  Also, all the data points and information have been gathered into one centralized location thus it is easier to retrieve information when needed.  This particular approach is also being used in crisis management. Certainly, project integration is truly a great factor in determining the success of a project.
