Follow Project Management Phases To Achieve Success

Helpful project management phases are needed to direct the path of a project. Without it, a project might not be carried out according to the customer’s expectation.

The first management phase is the project initiation.  This is one of the most critical stages because it is where the core management team, the stake holders, customers and sponsors meet to draw the line on which to expect as an outcome.  This is the best time to say if a team can deliver what the customer expects.  If things are not set up correctly, it may mislead the customers and they might be disappointed.  Make sure to define things clearly.

The next phase is project planning.  This is where detailed lay out of the tasks involved in the project is defined.  A project manager should know what each team member is good at so that the tasks can be assigned to the best person who can do the job.  It is also a need to consider the budget and the time allocated for each task.
The third phase is execution.  This is the longest phase and would entail much of the work.  It is important for the project manager to be very observant and check if any of the tasks is going beyond the scheduled time. A good communication between the project manager and the team will be an advantage in this particular phase.

The final phase is the closing of the project.  Stakeholders should be notified on the outcome of the project, all pending transactions with suppliers should be closed and all deliverables should be handed over to the customer.  Also, all documents should be kept for future reference.
