Project management objectives can be very helpful in determining the success of a project that is why in the initial stage where you need to formulate the objective, it needs to be defined clearly and should be SMART - specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound.

Time – Refers to the allocated time that is assigned per task.  It is highly essential to adhere to the time schedule so there will be no delay that will be experienced in the execution of the project.

Every project must follow the stages of project management framework in order to have the different aspects of a project organized.  This will act as a guide as to how things should be done effectively.

Initial stage – The project manager and the team members should be identified in this stage. An overview of the goal must be established.

Planning stage – This will determine if a project would go through or not.  Without an established working plan, a project would surely fail. Project management can be a very challenging task to deal with.  It requires proper way of coordinating the different aspects of the project.  This is done through project integration management because if things are not managed properly, it may compromise the success of the project.

1.Charter project development – this marks the beginning of the project.  Team members and the team manager are selected based on their skills.

Implementing Integrated Project Management Approach


Carrying out a plan to make a project successful can be a tough job especially if project management is not implemented well.  It needs to follow certain patterns or phases in order to make it more effective.  The most common project management phases are project initiation, planning, execution and closing a project.  The one who is tasked to see the overall progress of the project is the project manager.

Helpful project management phases are needed to direct the path of a project. Without it, a project might not be carried out according to the customer’s expectation.

The first management phase is the project initiation.  This is one of the most critical stages because it is where the core management team, the stake holders, customers and sponsors meet to draw the line on which to expect as an outcome.  This is the best time to say if a team can deliver what the customer expects.  If things are not set up correctly, it may mislead the customers and they might be disappointed.  Make sure to define things clearly.

Handling a project will require a guide in order to finish the project at a given time.  Almost, if not all projects, have their own deadlines.  If you are the project manager, it is imperative for you to align with the project management life cycle.  This consists of four major stages which are as follows:

The first one is the initiation stage.  This is where the objectives, goal and aims are determined. Since this stage commences the project, it is important to make things clear.  If there are any issues that can be resolved in this early stage, it should be done already so as to properly start the project.  A project manager is also assigned in this phase and he is given the authority to choose his team mates.

Planning comes in next. If you look at a project as a whole, it may be very confusing that is why planning is needed to subdivide tasks and assign it to those who are experts in each field.  Once you have a concrete plan, it will be easier to manage time and cost.
